Aqua profunda

Ever wondered why people love swimming laps?

In ‘emerging Melbourne’ we have to book our swims. This means hovering on the website at 1 minute to the hour when you can book your session for the week.

The first time I got a booking I whooped with excitement.

To do 40 laps in a chlorine pool. Not the salty ocean on a gorgeous beach.

Because it’s not just about the swimming. Sure, it’s a joy to stretch out – especially after six months of lock down.

But as we discussed in the queue, it’s because we solve seemingly intractable problems when swimming laps.

Whether you swim in the fast, medium or slow lane.

Now that’s ‘aqua profunda’.

It’s been drummed into us to stretch and move to stop us getting physically jammed up.

Why don’t more of us move when we’re mentally jammed?

Occasionally, participants in my workshops roll their eyes or sigh when I ask them to move – either when they are on the screen or in the room.

But I ignore them. A little movement can help shift thinking in ways that staying in that chair, or staring at that screen will never do.

I help people wonder about what’s possible – in a group or 1:1. If that sounds like you, let’s have a chat.
